 As complicated as this sounds, there was additional requirement. The comparison had to be done without actually being able to review their files. We had to employ an advanced platform in order to accomplish this through the use of a one way encryption process.

We provided a third party software solution to Consumer Base for this purpose. They then used this solution to encrypt their master data files. The encryption used is so strong that it could take weeks to crack just one line, and was thus acceptable for use by both parties. Considering that the databases were made up of millions of lines its safe to say that the data was acceptably secure.
